Pelican Waters Golf Club – Medical Emergency

This policy outlines the procedures to be followed in the event of a medical emergency on the golf course premises to ensure a timely and effective response.

This policy applies to all staff, contractors, players, visitors, and members on the golf course premises.

In case of a medical emergency on the golf course:

1. Assess the Scene

• Ensure it is safe to approach the person.

• DO NOT put yourself or others at risk.

2. Call for Help

• Dial 000 or 112 immediately and request an ambulance.

• Provide clear location details: “Pelican Waters Golf Course, 40 Mahogany Drive, Pelican Waters, Hole Number/Facility, nearest emergency entry point (if known).”

3. Alert On-site First Aid Personnel

• Notify the Clubhouse or Pro Shop on 07 5437 5000.

• A trained First Aid Officer will attend with a First Aid Kit and Defibrillator (AED) if needed.

4. Provide First Aid

• Only if trained and it is safe to do so.

• Use the Defibrillator (AED) for suspected cardiac arrest.

5. Guide Emergency Services

• A staff member will be assigned to meet emergency responders at the emergency entry point closest to the medical emergency location and direct them to the medical emergency location.

• There are four (4) emergency entry points as marked on the attached golf course map.

6. Equipment and Resources

• The Defibrillator (AED) and First Aid kits are located at the Pro Shop.

Review and Training

This policy shall be reviewed annually or after a major incident. Staff shall be trained in relation to this policy and appropriate staff shall receive training in relation to First Aid, CPR, and use of the Defibrillator (AED).
